Sunvibes in SL

Since 2009, Sunvibes has been part of the creative life of Second Life — offering spaces to learn, explore, and connect.

What started as OpenBuilding, a small project teaching basic building skills, has grown into a set of unique locations that reflect the Sunvibes spirit: creativity, learning, music, open sharing, and playful virtual-world design.

In Second Life, you can visit five main locations:

🏠 Sunvibes HQ
Sunvibes HQ is the home base of Sunvibes in Second Life — a friendly starting point for exploring the wider Sunvibes world. From here, visitors can find teleport links to different Sunvibes locations, pick up the latest Sunvibes Radio, and discover a small selection of freebies and useful items.

It is also a relaxed meeting spot where friends can gather, listen to music, and get a feel for what Sunvibes is all about: creativity, sharing, learning, and connection in virtual worlds.

🐧 Linux Café
Linux Café is a Sunvibes space dedicated to Linux, open source, and friendly tech exploration. Created in collaboration with Virtlantis, it offers a welcoming spot for people who are curious about Linux, free software, digital creativity, and open-source culture.

The café is designed as a relaxed learning and hangout space rather than a formal classroom. Visitors can stop by, explore resources, chat with others, and enjoy the open-source spirit that fits naturally with Sunvibes: sharing knowledge, experimenting, and helping each other learn.

🛠️ Sunvibes Workshop
Sunvibes Workshop is a hub for building, resources, and creativity, and forms part of the Whole Brain Health project. It offers a collection of free and full-perm materials that visitors can use when starting out with building in Second Life.

The workshop reflects the original OpenBuilding spirit of Sunvibes: helping people learn by doing, sharing useful resources, and encouraging creativity in virtual worlds.

🌍 Sunvibes Africa
Sunvibes Africa celebrates African culture, music, creativity, and storytelling in Second Life. It is also part of the Whole Brain Health project and includes themed areas inspired by African landscapes, patterns, languages, music, wildlife, and community life.

Visitors can explore different corners of the space, relax under the baobab tree, discover cultural displays, listen to music, and enjoy a warm, colourful celebration of African creativity.

🛍️ Surya Shop
Surya Shop is the Sunvibes creative shop in Second Life, offering virtual-world items such as particle effects, gestures, decor, and playful creations. Many of the items are designed with the Sunvibes style in mind: colourful, musical, cultural, and fun.

Purchases from Surya help support the ongoing maintenance of Sunvibes locations in Second Life, making the shop part of the wider Sunvibes ecosystem of creativity, sharing, and community.
