Sunvibes in Opensim

The Sunvibes project has had presence in OpenSim for many years.

The first Sunvibes sim lived on Craftgrid and that was back in 2016. Since then Sunvibes "moved grids" a few times.

Today Sunvibes is hosted on the Virtual Worlds Zone grid, managed by Kashi Takeshi.

Here, Sunvibes has three sims - Sunvibes, Africa and Shanti - each with its own character, but all carrying the same spirit of creativity, music, culture, and learning.

Each sim has its own teleporter network to help you explore, and many spots include interactive features, music streams, and free resources you can take with you.

Whether you’re here to learn, relax, or celebrate world music and culture, Sunvibes in OpenSim offers a rich journey of discovery.

What is Opensim?

OpenSimulator (often shortened to OpenSim) is a free, open-source server platform for hosting 3D virtual worlds, acting as a decentralized, user-controlled alternative to commercial platforms like Second Life. It allows individuals and organizations to run their own virtual spaces, often interconnected through a "Hypergrid" that allows users to travel between different creators' worlds.

First steps

1. Register an Account:

Go to OSgrid.org and sign up for a free account.

2. Install a Viewer:

You need a special “browser” for 3D worlds.
Firestorm Viewer : The most popular and feature-rich choice. Be sure to download the OpenSimulator-compatible version, not the one just for Second Life.

3. Login and Explore: Use your registered name and password. You will typically land in a “Welcome Area” such as Lbsa Plaza on OSgrid, where you can learn basic movement using the WASD keys, chat with others, and customize your avatar.
